How is ThumbsYup® different from other review systems?

We are primarily an internal customer relations platform that encourages communication between businesses and customers. The process of communication starts with a review. A review can be requested by the business or simply sent by the customer through the business's website.

Our mission, first and foremost, is to promote open communication with your customers. This ultimately leads to improved quality and a stellar reputation!

We're not like the typical 5-star review system. We believe there are two kinds of reviews. Either the customer is completely satisified, or the customer has a concern. While a satisfied customer is always nice, a concern is the review that's most important. It's not something to be feared or dreaded, but to be treated as an opportunity for improvement. We don't endorse negative feedback that simply takes a jab with no intent of finding a resolution.

We arm you with the ability to chat with your customers about concerns as well as publishing all your raves on your own website.

No website? No problem! We also provide you with your own ThumbsYup® website.

How can I request reviews?

Share your personalized "Request a Review Link" * whenever you can!

Here are some ideas:

  1. Simply request a review through email by using our handy request a review tool.
    You can find this tool in your account "Get Reviews!" under your "Request a Review" tab.
  2. Add a subtle request to your email signature (see "How do I create an email signature..." below).
  3. Embed reviews in your own website with HTML code we provide.

Do you have a handy request a review tool?

Yes! Our tool simply launches your default email client and pre-populates your subject line and email body including your personalized Request a Review Link. Please change the wording to fit your needs.

You can find this email tool (here) in your account "Get Reviews!" under the "Request a Review" tab. Click on the "Request a Review" button to launch your email client with the pre-populated email.

How do I create an email signature with a subtle request for a review?

We have created a personalized email signature just for you. Copy and paste it into your favorite email client!

Here's an example email signature:

How can I embed reviews into my own website?

There are a couple of ways:

  1. The fastest and simplest way to embed is to use your personalized iFrame* we have created just for you (click here). Copy that code and paste it where you'd like inside your website. It's that simple!
  2. Are you interested in increasing the traffic to your website? If you have a Rails website, you can use our 'thumbs_yup' gem to embed your reviews within your site. This method allows you to take advantage of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), which will help increase your web traffic and browser rankings. Can I arrange my reviews in a specific order?

Yes! Simply publish your new review to the Top, Middle, or Bottom. If you'd like to organize a review to a specific position, click on the "Published" link under your "Reviews" tab and move the review where you'd like.

What happens to my reviews if my subscription expires?

You will have unlimited storage, so we would continue to store all of your reviews for life. You would also still be able to request, receive, and organize your reviews. The FREE subscription will never expire! This means that 10 of your top posted 'Yups' will always be viewable to the public through your ThumbsYup® site or through your embedded reviews on your own site. If you'd like more reviews viewable to the public, simply subscribe to one of our higher tier subscriptions.

How do I ensure that I will receive emails from you?

If you are not receiving emails from us, there are a few steps you can take:

  1. First, check your "Spam", "Bulk Mail" or "Junk" email folder inside your email client to see if the message is there.
  2. Additionally, you can mark our emails as "Not Junk" or "Not Spam" in order to receive future emails from us inside your "Inbox".
  3. Finally, you can add "support@thumbsyup.com" to your "Whitelist" or approved list to your email client. This will ensure you receive emails from us. In some email clients, whitelisting is as simple as adding our email address to your address book.
